The Problem

Clinical trial monitoring shouldn't require a $50K platform or daily manual checks

Without DataLookout

  • Manually checking ClinicalTrials.gov for each competitor — 30-60 minutes per week
  • No way to know when a trial status changes unless you happen to look
  • Building landscape analyses in Excel from scratch every quarter
  • Enterprise tools (Citeline, GlobalData) start at $15,000-50,000/year
  • Missing new entrants in your disease area until they publish results

With DataLookout

  • Automatic daily monitoring of every trial on your watchlist
  • Field-level change detection: status, phase, endpoints, enrollment, sites
  • Competitive landscapes generated automatically for any disease area
  • Starting at $0/month — free forever for 1 sponsor + 1 disease
  • New entrant alerts the day a sponsor enters a disease area

Three steps to competitive trial intelligence

Step 1 — Search

Find any sponsor or disease

Search by sponsor name or disease area across 45,000+ trials from ClinicalTrials.gov. Filter by phase, status, and more to find exactly what you need.

Step 2 — Watch

Add them to your watchlist

Track sponsors, diseases, or both. DataLookout checks their trials daily and flags every change — status updates, phase transitions, new trials posted — so nothing slips through the cracks.

Step 3 — Analyze

Get competitive intelligence

Your dashboard shows protocol changes, new sponsor entrants, and pipeline shifts. Use Pipeline Pulse to see where the industry is racing, Landscape Reports for competitive breakdowns, and the Weekly Report for a digest of all activity.

Why DataLookout

ClinicalTrials.gov has the data. DataLookout watches it for you.

Change detection built in

DataLookout monitors daily snapshots and detects field-level changes — status updates, phase transitions, enrollment shifts — so you never miss a signal.

Manual checking wastes hours

Pharma BD teams and biotech analysts spend 30-60 minutes per week manually checking for updates. The dashboard eliminates that entirely.

Enterprise tools cost $10,000+/year

Citeline, Evaluate, and similar platforms are priced for enterprise budgets. DataLookout delivers core monitoring starting at $29/month.

See where pharma is betting

Pipeline Pulse ranks 86 disease areas by trial momentum. Landscape Reports show every sponsor in a disease, grouped by phase. New Entrant Detection alerts you when a competitor enters a new therapeutic area.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where does the data come from?
All data comes directly from ClinicalTrials.gov via their official API (v2). We do not scrape, modify, or interpret the data — we monitor daily for changes and surface them in your dashboard. ClinicalTrials.gov is maintained by the National Library of Medicine and is the authoritative source for US clinical trial information.
How often is ClinicalTrials.gov updated?
Sponsors are required to update their studies within 30 days of any significant change. New trials are posted continuously. Our pipeline runs every morning and captures anything posted or updated in the preceding 24 hours.
What is change detection?
DataLookout takes daily snapshots of every trial and compares them field by field. When a trial changes status (e.g., "Recruiting" to "Completed"), advances phase, updates enrollment numbers, or posts new results, we detect it and notify you. This is the core of competitive intelligence — knowing when your competitors' trials change.
How is this different from searching ClinicalTrials.gov directly?
ClinicalTrials.gov is a database — you search it, get results, and leave. DataLookout is a monitoring dashboard. You build a watchlist of sponsors, and we check their trials every day for changes. You see exactly which fields changed, when, and on which trial — without running a single search yourself.
Is the free plan really free?
Yes — the free plan is free forever. You get 1 sponsor and 1 disease watchlist with full change detection. Search and browse all 45,000+ trials with no time limit. Upgrade to Starter ($29/mo) or Pro ($99/mo) when you need more watchlists.
What are Landscape Reports?
Landscape Reports are full competitive breakdowns for any disease area. They show every active sponsor grouped by trial phase, a phase distribution chart, recent protocol changes, and new sponsor entrants. You can share them via link or print as a branded PDF. Available for all 86 disease areas we track.
What is Pipeline Pulse?
Pipeline Pulse ranks 86 disease areas by clinical trial momentum using our proprietary Activity Score — a composite of Phase 3 trial density, new trial starts, new sponsor entrants, and recent protocol changes. Filter by therapeutic area (Oncology, Neurology, Immunology, etc.) and activity level (Hot, Warm, Moderate, Low) to see where the industry is racing.
Can I export data?
Yes — Pro plan subscribers can export trial data and change history to CSV for use in spreadsheets, presentations, or internal reports.
Will I be notified about new trials, not just changes?
Yes. When a sponsor on your watchlist registers a new trial on ClinicalTrials.gov, it appears in your next email digest as a "New Trial" alert — separate from changes to existing trials. This includes the trial phase, disease area, and current status. You'll know about a competitor's new Phase 3 filing before it shows up in any news feed.
